Thanks to Zenitum a virtual creature hopping around on a real-life surface, seen through your mobile phone’s camera. iKat was created by using their D-Track engine. The virtual pet is markerless, which means you don’t need a marker or an image target to make it work; the app recognizes the space seen through the camera lens and adapts to it. Read more here.

TAT Augmented ID
This app uses the Flickr facial recognition technology of Polar Rose to identify a person’s face and pull up info like their online profile and contact info. Both creepy and amazing at the same time.

Smart idea for augmented reality

United states postal service figured out a way to add value to their site, by integrating an augmented reality function. On prioritymail.com the user can actually feel the different sizes of available packets. I like, that augmented reality in this case, is not just used for the fun of it (doesn't end in itself), but actually makes sense. Although the idea is good, the execution could be better.
